Home childcare, gastouderopvang in Dutch, is childcare in a private home, in a small-scale and homely setting. Unlike a nursery, a childminder works alone or with a small group of children, which brings more calm, more personal attention and a familiar daily structure.

With At Home, that means one familiar face, a real home, and a day that follows your child's rhythm.

I care for children aged 0 to 12. The group is mixed: babies, toddlers and after-school children all come together in my home. The older children walk to school with us in the morning and are here later in the day. That makes the group lively and varied, and children learn a great deal from one another.

If you use a recognised childminding agency, you are entitled to childcare allowance from the Dutch tax authority. Depending on your income this can be as much as 96% of the childcare costs. This is how it works:

1. You sign a childcare agreement through a recognised childminding agency
2. You apply for the allowance at toeslagen.nl
3. The allowance is paid monthly, based on the amount actually paid
4. The final settlement follows after your tax return

Yes. At Home Gastouderopvang is registered with the GGD, the Dutch public health service, and listed in the national childcare register (LRK). The GGD inspects the childcare regularly and the inspection report is publicly available at landelijkregister.nl.

Registration in the LRK is a legal requirement and a condition for the childcare allowance.
